Other combinations for international trips from Europe:

- via Hungary:

If you want to get from Austria to Russia it's easier and faster to travel via Hungary than via Slovakia. In this case you can also use the Citystar-ticket. The part Bratislava - Chop - Bratislava remains unused. Chop is the first station in Ukraine, the lines from Slovakia and Hungary meet here.

For a trip Wien (Vienna) - Irkutsk and back you need:
Citystar ticket Bratislava - Irkutsk via Ukraine: 134,4 EUR
Additional ticket across Hungary to Chop and back (e.g. ticket Wien - Chop via Budapest and back): 114 EUR (with Railplus card: 85 EUR, with OeBB-Vorteilscard: 79 EUR)
Sleeper reservation Budapest - Moskva: 24 EUR
Sleeper reservation Moskva - Irkutsk: 148 EUR
Sleeper reservation Irkutsk - Moskva: 148 EUR
Sleeper reservation Moskva - Budapest: 24 EUR
TOTALLY: 592,4 EUR

However, since a new sleeping car from Zilina in Eastern Slovakia to Moscow via Ukraine has been introduced, travelling from Vienna via Bratislava - Kosice to Moscow became an interesting alternative!
See above (Bratislava - Vladivostok - Bratislava). The additional return ticket Vienna - Bratislava - Vienna costs about 27 EUR.

- from Germany to Russia via Ukraine:

To avoid Belarus (transit visa) you can get to Kiev by train from Berlin and the use the Citystar from Kiev onwards. The part Bratislava - Kiev remains unused in this case.

The trip Berlin - Kiev (ticket + sleeper reservation) costs about 115 EUR (90 EUR with a Railplus-card).
Citystar-ticket: 134,4 EUR
Sleeper reservation Kiev - Moskva: 55 EUR
Sleeper reservation Moskva - Vladivostok: 220 EUR
Totally about 524 EUR for a one-way-trip from Berlin to Vladivostok.
